Oklahoma State Senator Ralph Shortey may face multiple charges related to prostitution. It’s alleged that the President’s primary campaign leader was found in a Super 8 motel with a teenage boy.
Last Thursday morning, the Oklahoma City Republican was found in a Moore, Okla. motel. KWTV reports that Shortey was with an unidentified minor under the age of 18.
A source, who asked not to be named, told KOCO that local cops want the politician charged with multiple prostitution charges:
- Prostitution within 1000 feet of a church
- Transporting someone for prostitution
- Soliciting a minor for prostitution
It’s unclear exactly how old the boy is, but police say he’s definitely a juvenile. However, Daily News notes that in Oklahoma, the age of consent is 16, implying that the boy has to be younger than that.
A state legislature biography for Shortey says that he has been married to his high school sweetheart since 2002 and has two kids.
The state senator, whose stated priorities include “personal liberty” and “fighting illegal immigration,” endorsed Trump early, in October 2015.
He was later listed in an announcement of the future president’s “leadership team” in Oklahoma, and posted on Facebook the day after the Super 8 motel incident that he was honored to have lunch with Trump’s son Donald Jr.
In response to news about the investigation into Shortey, the Oklahoma Democratic Party said that the politician should suspend all his official activities.
“This is far too embarrassing to have him speak, vote or represent Oklahoma on any issue,” the group said.
Shortey’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily News.
