Community members from Floyd County, Ga. are outraged when a cellphone video surfaced showing students viciously hitting an elderly middle school teacher, Infowars reports.
In the video, the female teacher appears to be trying to diffuse an argument between two students when they started assaulting the woman caught in the middle, where she suffered punches and slaps to the head and face.
When a video emerged on YouTube showing the incident, members of the community were shocked of what happened inside a classroom at Rome Middle School.
Local media initially said that school officials were tight lipped about the incident, but later changed their story following pressure from reporters.
“After we sent them the video, the superintendent called and said they are aware of the incident, but had no further comment,” according to WSB-TV. “The superintendent said he would not tell us about any disciplinary action, citing privacy issues.”
One resident said, “I know my daughter went to school for early childhood and once she got in the classroom and saw the behavior of the students, she said, ‘It’s not for me,’ and she took another avenue and I can’t blame her.”
