CBS “60 Minutes” ran a story that examines the loopholes in H-1B visas that led to outsourcing of American jobs to foreigners within the United States.
The immigration law, initially designed to help the job market, was misused by companies by bringing in cheaper foreign labor to America because of loopholes.
They showed how American workers who are about to be replaced found themselves training their foreign replacements.
The visa program was put into the national spotlight when a Disney employee gave an emotional testimony before members of Congress revealing how companies had them “treated like trash and just thrown away,” according to 100% Fed Up.
Jessica Vaughan of the Center for Immigration Studies said the CBS story gives an insight on the history of the H-1B visa program and how the Immigration Act of 1990 resulted to American workers getting screwed.
