Center-right websites make up the majority of Harvard University’s list of “fake news” websites, while leftist news sites were curiously not mentioned.
Conservative-leaning news sources, including Breitbart News, The Drudge Report and The Daily Caller were labeled by the educational institution as illegitimate sources of news, claiming that these sites were biased and unreliable in their reporting.
Harvard, however, did not think liberal news sites such as BuzzFeed, The Washington Post and Huffington Post fit that description.
The Daily Caller reports:
The list, compiled by Merrimack College associate professor Melissa Zimdars, is recommended to students as part of a Harvard library guide on “Fake News, Misinformation, and Propaganda.” The list is linked under a banner titled, “Identifying Fake News Sites.” A comment next to the link calls the document a “Huge list of fake news sites.”
The Daily Caller has previously reported that some liberal journalists have turned their campaign against “fake news” to a smear job on conservative media.
So far, the Harvard University library has yet to respond to the Daily Caller’s request for a comment.
