House Speaker Paul Ryan scoffed at the latest leaked audio that exposed him for bashing Donald Trump before he was elected.
In the audio from October 2016, Ryan says, “I am not going to defend Donald Trump—not now, not in the future.”
However, Ryan later went back on that promise and eventually endorsed Trump and even worked with him on several important issues.
“It’s no secret Donald and I had our ups and downs, the president and I had our ups and downs during the campaign. But we merged forces at the end of the campaign,” said Ryan. “I campaigned with Mike Pence. I supported Donald Trump. We merged forces and since then we’ve been working hand and glove together. Honestly, I got such thick skin. This is such ancient history. I’m surprised it’s even a story.”
At least he was willing to admit that he made a mistake. Credit to Ryan for owning up to what he said.
