A man charged with raping a girl and leaving her paralyzed, blind, and mute, begged his sentencing judge to give him a lighter sentence.
Kendrick Morris raped Queena Phu just before she was about to leave for college. The brutal incident, left the girl in such rough shape that she will never be able to enjoy her life the same way again.
To make matters worse, this wasn’t the first time Morris raped someone. He did something similar to an elderly woman a year before this rape took place.
Lucky for society, his sentencing judge refused his request for a lighter sentence after he was handed a 65-year sentence in prison.
But the judge didn’t just refuse the sentence, he absolutely shattered Morris in the process.
When the judge called for the sentence to stay the same, he reminded Morris that he had deprived a victim of her livelihood, and that because of this, he too should be deprived of his.
“The court finds that the nature of the defendants crimes in these two cases was especially heinous and brutal. The court finds the defendant’s crimes were sexually violent in nature. These crimes were particularly atrocious and cruel. Accordingly, life sentences are the only appropriate sentences in this case,” said Judge Chet Tharpe.
