A former intelligence officer suggested on Monday that former President Barack Obama may become the first former president to receive a felony indictment.
The claim comes after President Trump exposed Obama for wiretapping his phone lines in Trump Tower during the 2016 election season.
“This could be the first time a former president could be indicted for a felony,” responded Lt. Col. Tony Shaffer. “Because I think it is very possible that he acted outside of the scope of his duties, responsibilities and authorities to turn the resources of a nation-state on a candidate.”
“This is, as I’ve said before, soviet-dictator level wrongdoing,” he added.
While Shaffer’s comments are mostly speculation, his claims do hold some merit and point to the fact that Obama engaged in illegal and shady behavior in order to take Trump down.
Lucky for the country, his efforts failed and Trump still went on to win.
