In Australia’s Murray River, a woman reported to be high on crystal meth took her two sons, aged nine and five, down to the river intending to drown them on March 3.
It was when the eldest was forced to climb into the water when Buddy the pit bull came to the rescue, said to overhear the screams of the youngest boy. Buddy attacked the mother giving the eldest time to get away.
The eldest, however, was injured in the rescue and is now under the medical care of the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne.
Local police are still in search of the youngest boy; he was last seen floating face down the river according to an article by the New York Daily News.
The mother, who is known to police as a drug addict, is facing charges for attempted murder.
